Lauritzen Inc. has developed a wide range of solutions aimed at improving alternative energy technology. Below are some documents detailing a few of our solutions.
Application Notes:
Power Layout Sif Tracker Motor Controller
The purpose of this application note is to discuss the low voltage power supply and RS-485 communication wire layout between the Utgard solar tracker field controller and one or more Sif motor controllers.
Valhalla Server Events and Alarms
This application note was written to explain the setup and functionality of our Valhalla server, as well as how our controllers are organized within it. We will also go in to detail about how our remote controllers report events to the server, and how alarms can be set from these events.
Solar Thermal Solutions:
Solar Domestic Hot Water with Pool System
The objective of this system is to control a Solar Thermal Drain-Back system used to heat Domestic Hot Water (DHW) and use the remaining excess energy for heating a swimming pool. The system must be fully accountable and report system failures and faults.
Choosing Flow Meters
Commercial systems often use 1-1/2”, 2” or 3” pipe sizes in Domestic Hot Water (DHW) plumbing. Does that necessarily require an equivalently sizes flow meter body which is used to measure hot water usage?
Tracker Solutions:
Linear Actuators in Solar Tracking Systems
Solar trackers require actuators to move the tracker around either a single or dual axis. For both types of trackers, a linear actuator provides a cost effective solution for controlling a tracker’s elevation.
Criteria for Inverter Selection
The purpose of this document is to provide a checklist when considering selecting a Solar
PV Inverter for your solar tracking system.
Wind Solutions:
Wind Turbine Electronic Furling and Yaw Control
The objective of this system is to control a wind turbine to optimally harvest energy and protect the system components. The system must point the turbine into the wind to collect energy and furl by turning out of the wind when appropriate. The system must be fully accountable and report system failures and faults.
General Solutions:
Renewable Electricity for California
In order to better understand the renewable energy situation, I spent time reading through what I could find about renewable energy, more specifically in California, and I have gathered my findings into this paper. This paper gives a comprehensive look at hydro power, solar photo voltaic power, wind power, geothermal, and a brief look at coal/natural gas power.
